When gearing up for a volcano boarding excursion, it's crucial to consider the prevailing weather conditions. In Leon, where I embarked on my adventure, the climate tends to be scorching hot. However, during the wet season from May to November, rain showers are a possibility, along with relentless winds atop the volcano.
Go For Comfort
On the day of our excursion, the heat was intense, and even the gusts of wind felt warm. Opting for comfort, I chose to wear a lightweight short-sleeved t-shirt and shorts to stay cool throughout the journey.
Footwear
To ensure stability and control during the descent, sturdy footwear is a must. I opted for reliable hiking boots with robust soles, providing the necessary traction for braking effectively with my legs. A multipurpose head wrap proved indispensable, serving to shield my mouth and nose from the dusty conditions as I zoomed down the slope.
Safety First
For added protection, the tour company supplied us with goggles and a jumpsuit to prevent damage to our clothing. Some companies even provided gloves for extra safety. Additionally, we were equipped with small bags to conveniently carry our jumpsuits and water to the summit. When preparing for the excursion, I made sure to pack essentials like a liter of water to stay hydrated and my GoPro to capture unforgettable moments.
What About Valuables?
Concerned about valuables? Fret not! Excess belongings can be safely stored in the truck, while our guide graciously offered to take our cameras down the slope, ensuring their security. While our guide captured memorable group photos on his mobile phone, I also made it a point to snap my own shots of the majestic volcano and the thrilling moments before and after boarding.
After the tour is done we have received a link to Google Drive where all the images and videos were available. Goodstuff!
