Know where you're going:

el Tunco

Nestled along El Salvador’s southern Pacific coast, El Tunco is a sleepy beach town with a vibrant heart. Here, the rhythm of the waves harmonizes with the warmth of the sun, creating an irresistible blend of adventure and relaxation.

El Tunco, named after a massive boulder resembling a friendly pig, rests against the coastline. Its waves beckon surfers from all corners of Central America, creating a lively and laid-back atmosphere. Surfers flock to El Tunco for its perfect breaks and consistent swells. Whether you’re a seasoned pro or a curious beginner, the waves here embrace you. Catch the morning sun as you ride the crests, feeling the ocean’s pulse.

As the day winds down, El Tunco transforms. The sky blushes with hues of orange and pink, casting a warm glow over the beach. Find a cozy spot, sip on a chilled drink, and watch the sun dip below the horizon—a moment etched in memory. El Salvador’s iconic dish, the pupusa, takes center stage. These thick, stuffed corn tortillas burst with flavor—beans, cheese, or loroco flowers. Pair them with curtido (pickled cabbage) and salsa for an authentic taste of El Salvador.

During the day, El Tunco is sleepy—a canvas of tranquility. Stroll along its narrow streets, explore local shops, and feel the sand between your toes. As night falls, the town awakens. Bars and beachfront hangouts come alive, inviting you to dance, laugh, and connect. El Tunco wears its touristy badge with pride. Backpackers, holidaymakers, and Salvadorian locals mingle here, sharing stories and laughter. It’s a place where time slows, and friendships bloom.
